Oh lord, it’s been how long? Well, on behalf of my irresponsible sisters and I, I’d like to (again) say sorry. But my life is well… a life, and I just write on this blog to feel famous. Not really. Anyway, I had something really awe-inspiring to pronounce, however it has escaped my mind. Instead, I’ll direct you to the title just above the cartoon me’s adorable head. A good t.v. show used that for a commercial and my mom apparently has the cd. I looked it up on youtube, it was funny but that guy can sing.
On another note, school’s been hectic. And Apple as always is rolling out the many (seemingly the same products). Such as the giant itouch, ipad. Aside from the slightly strange name and oh so unique idea, it looks… well, okay. My grievances? For one, I’ve always hated ipod touches. It seem so cool in the beginning, however the typing and weird web browsing turned me off. Then it broke. Anyway, if I ever bought an Ipad, I’d probably prefer a laptop, and would still buy one. Also: They are creating this whole ‘book store’ thing online, just like music. If I’m correct, it was actually an old app. Anyway, it’s sort of like some product Barnes & Noble came out with. To be honest, I prefer books over weird computerized e-books that provide the sound of the page crinkling when you swipe it, which after a few minutes gets only a little annoying (based on the app version). Still, the great thing is the ipad only costs about $500. Well, I’m just skipping from topic to topic here, so here’s a picture of Stevie and his pad.
In other news… First off, I never thought I’d be talking about anything other than me and my life on here! Okay, so in other news: lots of things are going on in the world. I hate to be so serious, but right now I’m doing a lot of–well unselfish things, I think. It seems strange since on here I tend to be anything but selfless. Well, I’m planning to donate shoes to other countries in need (think shoe drives!) through a site called Soles4Souls. Other than that, you can be sure that I pitch change in the help for Haiti cans whenever I see them. Let’s make this year a caring year. After all, we have so much to give, if only we could give just a little bit of that–think how much good it could do! Lots of people, myself included have an excess of shoes, clothes, food, things we end up buying but not using. Even in a school environment, I see lots of kids who don’t truly value, appreciate, and understand the simple fact that they get to go to a school–especially in such a nice neighborhood. It’s sad and something we can’t really get around. So the most we can do is give a little here and there.
Well that was serious. Anyway, my mom is going away to Philadelphia tonight. She’s taking the red eye and is coming back Sunday night. To say the least I am devastated. I guess I’ll end up living with my parents until I’m forty and slightly balding (not to say that all 40 year olds bald/slightly bald.). However, I’ll continue! The nature of her visit is related to photography for a competition that she is a finalist in- ONWARD. Note: she’s the first one. I’m greatly excited for her, and I know she’ll win. At least, she deserves to.
Well, so long everybody, have a wonderful rest of your life.

Okay, so hey there. No, I haven’t posted much… big surprise? No, not really. Anyway my excuse for the week/month/year is homework. Loads and loads of the stuff. I mean crazy amounts of work to the point where sharing my thoughts with all this sites’ viewers gets to be… well, just a teensy bit hard. Never fear, for I haven’t (completely) forgotten all of you.
So here’s a video I just saw on youtube. It’s amazing and fantastic and stupid too because it can only be shipped to Australia and other unimportant places. Why don’t they ship something as wonderful as this to amazing places… like, for example the U.S.? Not that I don’t love Australia. Their accents are so cool when compared to like Canadian accents which don’t serve much of a purpose (still, I’ve never heard of Australian Bacon, yeah?), however all accents are awesome.
That was totally beside the point. But anyway, I won’t bore you on the details as all I ask of you is to watch and enjoy! Besides it’s almost 30 minutes long, so I doubt you have the time to sit here completely ignoring the piles of work you still have to accomplish (not like I’d ever do that).
The creator of this great short film was director Anthony Lucas and the link to the Jasper Morello site is here.

Today was this wonderful, amazing day starting off at (my usual waking up hour) 12 noon. Then I proceeded to throw a big fit (in my mind of course) because someone had used up all the whipped cream cheese. That being a total crime, I went on to complain loudly to everyone then looked for the frozen blueberry waffles because frozen blueberry waffles are like a dream come true. Much to my annoyance, the frozen blueberry waffles were all gone. So instead I had to settle for mac and cheese. Not so very elegant, yes, but who doesn’t love cheese and dough (other than people who don’t like cheese and dough of course)? Anyway, then I just sat around watching t.v. and waiting for my cousin to come over. I won’t bore you with the details about my cousin, let’s just say I’m more interesting… kidding. Of course. Why would I ever say that?
After that everything was a blur of food, sumo wrestlers, and those horrifically crappy movies with all your typical teen stars back from the early 2000′s (a painful reminder of what life was like only years ago). Besides the crazy amount of pedophiles passing off as teens (PPOAT), and tacky plots, they passed the time well. I really enjoyed “Sleepover” with Alexa Vega and her 20-something year old boyfriend…
After that we went and rented the Bucket List and The Notebook. I’ve still got to see the Notebook, but the Bucket List was pretty good. And sad. Morgan Freeman was amazing as usual (and Gabby was kind enough to explain how Morgan was a girl’s name), and Jack Nicholson, however creepy he may seem was pretty great too. It was heartfelt, touching, and hilarious. I would strongly advise everyone see it, and even though I didn’t cry (I never cry at movies, however the closest I’ve ever come was tearing up at Mulan, which is a different story entirely), I was crying inside. Okay, so maybe I wasn’t. The point is, this movie is great and I already love it. Actually, I want to see it again (:
No, I’m not seeing Love Happens. Not that I wouldn’t, but I’m not entirely sure that it’s even out yet. Anyway, the point is that to me it simple seems like one of those cliché, boring, typical love stories that are being mass-produced as a means of getting some easy cash. Of course, maybe it’s just my overly cynical self here (probably is), but I’d be willing to be proved wrong. Anyway, that leads me on this wonderful tangent about typical love stories/movies which will later lead me on to books by James Patterson/Dan Brown, which will in turn lead me to Scott O’Dell’s marvelous books, and don’t fret, I’ll get there very soon. Anyway, back to my first digression (?): the typical love stories I’m talking about are the kind I like to call “airport fiction.” Namely all the books in airports that are about some shocking 300 pages centered mainly around a studly Italian male model (My Antonio) and an underestimated, gorgeous girl and their tumultuous relationship. Okay, so I’ve never read one, but I can take a good guess. These are mainly made to tide you over for a long, boring red-eye flight to New York. It’s either that or focus on the man falling asleep, slobbering on your shoulder. And you thought you had a choice. What adorns the cover of a typical Airport Romance Fiction novel is a muscled tanned man, naked as far as we can see and wrapped in a pink silk sheet hugging a woman with flowing red hair. Or, if you like the more scenic, in-tune-with-nature images, you can have the two intimately bathing in a pool of clear water in a forest, hippie-style (don’t ask?) with a majestic white unicorn grazing in the background.
Enough said there, right? On to Dan Brown who is pretty much synonymous with James Patterson. I love reading their books, but let’s face it, the main characters are either gorgeous, yet aged men in their late 30′s/40′s who still can manage a few hours of swimming laps in a pool and can pull off a delicious chocolatey baritone voice. Or there’s the brainy heroines who are world-class geeks with ‘swimsuit model’ bodies. Buuut, they’re still entertaining reads and far better than “Abandoned Love,” “A Love Tested,” blah blah blah. Anyway, the gorgeous heroines remind me of Scott O’dell’s classics. Take Island of the Blue Dolphins, or that other one, Carmen was it? And then there’s a few others I’m pretty sure with those beautiful, courageous girls stranded in their own world, fighting to prove themselves, etc., but still, his books aren’t half bad (If my memory’s correct). Anyway, this huge tangent means absolutely nothing, I’m just tired on a Saturday night and rambling like an old man.
Comments? Questions? Suggestions? Outrage at my mindless speculating? Feel free to alert the staff (aka: me). Have a wonderful night/day/year/life everyone.

coldplay;; A Rush Of Blood To The Head

I think everyone knows the band coldplay for its very popular song “Viva la Vida”. Though, I love that song, I have to say that it isn’t near my favorite song of this band. Nope. Honestly, my favorite song has to be “politik”, I’m not sure that it’s very popular, but you should check it out; Chris Martin sings beautifully in it. <33
Alright, so my dad was saying how Chris Martin (lead singer) doesn’t have a distinctive voice, but I have to disagree. He has an amazing voice!! His voice is especially beautiful in songs like “politik”, and “the scientist”, as well as ”a whisper” and “warning sign”. The lyrics to all of the Coldplay songs are beautiful too, and the guitar riffs are pretty nice too. C: Anyway, I believe in all honesty that this is one of, or their BEST albums ever. <3
For some background info:
Coldplay, a British rock//alternative band, has been around since… 1996, I think. Chris Martin does the vocals and piano, while the drummer is Will Champion, the guitarist is Johnny Buckland, the bass player is Guy Beryman, and the band is managed by Phil Harvey. [: Apparently, the band started out between Chris Martin and Johnny Buckland. According to my not-so-extensive-research, the two decided to name themselves "Pectoralz" at first0, but later on, when Berryman joined the group, they changed the name again to Starfish. Finally, when they gained their manager, and drummer, Will Champion, they changed their name to Coldplay, which has been kept to this day (obviously).

A note: I am still not quite finished with this review, but I figured I’d post it anyway since I haven’t been on, and to explain the reason why.
As soon as it came out-no, as soon as it was announced-I was hooked. The Sims 3. The newest addition to the long line of Sims products. There was the Sims 2, The Sim City, Sim Animals and more; but nothing could compare to the newest, grandest, Sims 3.
Call me obsessed, but like many other captivated Sims fans, I bought it the week of it’s release and I was not disappointed. As some of you might know, this version of the ever-popular Sims franchise is quite an improvement. I was extremely surprised once I had played it for a week or so. The new additions and improvements are so immense in my opinion that they make it seem more like a Sims 4 or maybe even 5.
New improvements of the Sims 3:
- YOU CAN MAKE YOUR SIM GO ANYWHERE THEY WANT
- Much more detailed sims, houses, surroundings and other objects
- Your sims now have opportunities that they can accomplish for rewards; such as fixing a neighbors shower, tutoring a child in chess, and so on.
- Create a Sim is much more detailed; hair, eyes, and clothes have more customized options. Additionally, your sims now have personalities that affect game play. You can choose from traits like daredevil, Kleptomaniac, Athletic and more.
- Objects as well as clothes can now be applied with any color or pattern you could wish for.
- Your sims now have a lifetime wish such as a rockstar, international spy, having a perfect garden, and more.
- A new feature, story-mode, enables the whole town to age with your current sim. People will move in, move out, have children and promotions.
- Options to customize your sims’ body shape and skin color
See what I mean? These are great new additions that just leave the Sims 2 behind in the dust. One of the most important new features, as I am sure many of you know of, is the lack of the ubiquitous loading screen when your current sim moves out of it’s lot. The programmers decided to get rid of the annoying nuisance, and I believe they decided well. This and Story-mode makes the game not only about your current sim/household, but focusses the game on the whole town 24/7.
And with all of these new achievements comes, well, more achievements: Now your sims have portable items, such as cars, bikes, laptops and cell phones which help to keep the whole idea of ‘the city is your playground’ alive. Cell phones act just like normal phones with one extra feature, a camera! Your sim can take pictures which will happily find their way into the sim’s inventory. Speaking of inventory, your sim can carry anything from unfinished books, produce, and rare stones, to insects and fish in their inventory. This is extremely useful with the new game play.
But enough about that, let’s start at the beginning. When you first create a sim you are given several thousands of choices. Be it what haistyle to pick, the clothes, eyes, and finally skin tone. Well, that’s a bit too general since many of the Sims 3′s predecessors had the same option, but in Sims 3, you can choose virtually any skin tone you could ever want. Finally, a color wheel has replaced the set choices for an object be it hair, skin or clothes. You can make your sims a sci fi green, creepy blue, extremely pale, dark and tan, or anything in between. As in the Sims 2, you can manipulate your sims’ facial features down to the size of their nostrils or the height of their eyelids. A new wonderful addition was the fact that you could choose most of what your sim’s body shape would look like. There are now two sliding bars that adjust muscle size as well as fat. There is a wide (and ever growing) selection of clothes for your sims to wear and enjoy as well as several fun accessories. One drawback is the sudden lack of hairstyles. I found that the Sims 2 had an ample amount of styles to choose from; dreds, buzzed, ‘fro, balding, short and cropped… but in the Sims 3, the list was sadly very short. In addition, the precious few that they offered wasn’t really that… precious. The styles were a little drab and a little boring, but noting to be too sad about.
After customizing your sim’s body and clothes, you move on to their personality. This is one of my favorite parts where you can choose their traits. Their is a long list ranging from genius to absent-mindend, technophobe to daredevil. You can also choose their favorite color, music and food, as well as the pitch, and, to an extent, the sound of their voice.
Once you have created your sims, you can move them into a house an begin your game. The gameplay is much the same as the previous sims games. You basically control your sims and maneuver them through the hardships and happy times that makes up their lives.
You can also build houses on open lots, creating anything from one-room shacks to breathtaking multi-million dollar mansions. One problem that really irks me, though is the fact that you can’t create new lots. This affects you in the long run when you are forced to either move some people out of their homes, or stop making as many sims due to the increasing lack of open houses/lots. This is one of the times where you stop and say, “Really??” I mean, it might have its purpose, but it is one of the most annoying parts of the game.
Aside from that, this game is GREAT. With immersive, detailed game play, and astounding graphics and features, this is one of the better mac games that I’ve played in my lifetime. (yes, I am a very picky mac snob
)

So: as you can probably tell, we just saw the Pixar movie UP. This much anticipated, dazzling, and uplifting movie for little kids seems to not be “just for little kids.” So, anyway, read on for my review of this great movie!

So, above we have Carl Fredricksen, one of the main characters of this epic movie. May I also add that he has a remarkable likeness to that of my grandfather. No, seriously. The face, the style, the clothes (which he doesn’t wear, but did), even the personality (maybe a little less grumpy)! So anyway, this movie starts off at a nice pace. The animation was mind-blowing! Tiny details were paid close attention to: the hair, the eyes, how each character walked, talked, the way their mouths moved when they talked.
The story-line is brilliant… and the movie often times touches upon topics that are shockingly deep for a kids’ movie; divorce, death, etc., there’s more, of course, but i don’t have the right words to describe them at the moment. Haha. Anyway, I never cry when I watch movies. No, I did not cry at UP, but I very nearly did. And that’s pretty amazing. The only other time I almost cried while watching a movie was Mulan (don’t ask). Continuing on: this movie is both moving and uplifting, you may not believe it, but just watch it.
So: the character’s were superb! Carl Fredricksen was hilarious and grumpy, and his voice was perfect. Russell, the tiny, chubby, boy-scout-like “male man” (watch the movie), was soo cute. Maybe I’m just a girl, but he was innocent and adorable, and never turns a blind eye on anyone.
Throughout, the movie supplied the whole audience with lots of laughs. UP was innocent, charming, hilarious, and touching. I really recommend that whoever you are, go and watch it… unless you like… hate the world and despise love and honesty… if you are like that, then I recommend you not see UP. But, for every other slightly average person presiding on planet Earth, please REWARD YOURSELF BY BUYING A TICKET TO SEE UP.
5/5: *****/******
pros: cute, funny, uplifting, great animation, great characters.
cons: not much, really. unless you count the sad things as cons, although i think they’re actually pros, but whatever…
p.s. we saw it in 3D!

3D glasses: also Carl's glasses
[edit;;] I have to add one thing that I thought Bella would have already included. Well, I’ a really soft cookie, like seriously. I cried in walle, and this other really old movie… I doubt anyone knows it. Anyway, I cried in up. Not just once, and not just twice. At least five times. This movie was excellent, despite its deepness, and this shouldn’t bring the movie down or anything, like Bella said it is more of a plus/pro than anything. It’s a very deep, but uplifting movie, if you could call a Pixar movie uplifting (which it was).
Also, I don’t think you can’t see the movie in anything but 3/D. Though it may cost a little bit more, it’s well worth the extra money! On top of that, the little short clip before the actual movie plays (the title has something to do with clouds), was so cute and hilarious, and I think I might have almost cried in that too, if it wasn’t so hilarious.
In short, I think I love Pixar people. <33

the black keys;; attack and release

There aren’t many albums that I can listen to repeatedly, for days, and on. Normally, for quite a few artists/bands out there, they’ve got one really popular song and that’s just about it. The Black Keys is an amazing group, and every song is totally addictive. “Attack and Release” isn’t the band’s first album, in fact, it’s one of the many popular albums they’ve released.
The songs are a mix of Blues/Rock, and sound great. The lead singer, Dan Auerbach, has an amazing, distinctive voice. He makes all of the songs so much more fun to listen to. You can listen to each of these songs all day, and not get tired. Each one has its own amazing sound, and different concept. The lyrics to each song are also cleverly, almost poetically written to fit the song.
Some of my personal favorites from TBK are (in order of greatness): So He Won’t Break, Lies, Psychotic Girl, I’ve Got Mine, Remember When (side A) and Strange Times. Whenever I listen to their songs, I break out in a big smile. Some of their songs are kind of chilling, but still really amazing… I guarantee you’ll love them too!

“Magic Potion” – Released ’06
“Rubber Factory” – ’04

as tall as lions;; into the flood

First, I’ve got to compliment myself on finding this EP. It’s a personal favorite of mine, and so I heartily suggest it to you all out there on the wide web. This album, “Into The Flood” is As Tall As Lions’ second EP on the market. It’s a wonderful buy, with five excellent songs (depending where you buy this, and whether it is the regular “Into The FLood -EP”, or Into The Flood [Deluxe Edition]–on itunes [includes 96 Heartbreaks music video, and Ghost of York music video]).
The songs are filled with wonderful instrumental parts as well as vocal parts. Despite the small number of songs included in this EP, it’s well worth the money; you’ll listen to it over and over. The songs are all haunting, and beautifully played and written.
“Into The Flood” was released in 2007. Some other works of the band:
Blood and Aphorisms (several songs were re-recorded and used in later album, Lafcadio)-release date: 2002
Lafcadio -release date: 2004
As Tall As Lions (obviously self-titled) -release date: 2006
if you have any suggestions for the next choice, please notify me. ( :
